Subconscious Mind: How to Control and Use its Power

Subconscious Mind

The subconscious mind is a powerful secondary system responsible for controlling all aspects of your life. It is a powerful tool on the path to success, happiness and wealth to learn how to stimulate communication between the conscious and subconscious minds.

Your subconscious mind holds all of the information that isn’t in your conscious mind. It stores all of your beliefs, experiences, memories and abilities. Also, you can see, do and think whatever you want.

It also serves as your guide. Sensory information is constantly monitored for opportunities and dangers. The information would be communicated to the conscious mind, so you want it to communicate that information (more on that tricky issue – later).

The subconscious and conscious minds communicate in both directions. You often get ideas or emotions, or memories or images from the past, from your subconscious mind. The communication that occurs in the other direction is more complex and is made possible by the principle of auto-suggestion.

We will discuss how to use the subconscious mind to achieve success in this article. The goal of this blog is to teach you how to communicate well with your subconscious so that it follows the path you set for it.

What is the subconscious mind?

Do you know how much of our brains we actually use? That is mostly due to our subconscious mind. It has never been studied thoroughly by scientists, and we still do not know enough about it. Nevertheless, we know that it is capable of running and controlling almost everything we do.

Meditation can be viewed as transferring control from the subconscious to the conscious mind when you start controlling your breath. It involves breathing deeply and from the stomach. However, your subconscious will then take over once you stop controlling it. You don’t need to worry about it anymore. As long as there is no other stimulus changing your breathing (such as a stressful situation), your breathing will remain relaxed. The whole process takes place in the brain.

It is also responsible for processing information from the senses. There are hundreds of megabytes of information coming at your brain every second. If you forced it to get through all of it, it would explode. Your subconscious mind acts as a barrier between the conscious and subconscious mind. Processes all information and only passes the information that is applicable to you at that moment.

The wild monkey

The subconscious mind can be compared to a wild monkey. It runs around all day long without tiring. Furthermore, it can transport information from random areas to the main section of the brain. Or it could provide useful information (opportunities) and help you succeed in your goals. All this monkey needs is a purpose!

Communicating with your subconscious mind

Communication between your conscious and subconscious minds is difficult since it must be done with emotion. The thoughts you keep at the back of your mind are only those conveyed with true emotion. There are only thoughts backed by strong emotions that are retained.

Both positive and negative emotions are affected in this way. However, negative emotions tend to prevail over positive emotions.

Fear and negative self-talk

You must first eliminate any thoughts loaded with negative emotions in order to harness the power of the subconscious mind. Negative self-talk also needs to be stopped or at least restrained if it is loaded with emotions.

Especially when you’re very emotional about your fears, your fears tend to come true. It is because of this that negative self-talk could have such adverse effects. It is important to eliminate or counter these negative thoughts as soon as possible to ensure that you succeed.

Supposedly, you have a guardian angel who follows you at all times. If you tell yourself, “My life is awful,” it records your life as awful. And if you tell yourself, “My job is boring,” it records boring job.  The system writes down “my body is ugly” when you say that. As soon as you ask it for all these wishes, it grants them to you, for they are filled with strong emotions (sadness, disappointment, regret, self-loathing). Your subconscious mind is that angel.

Think about this question: “Can you afford to mindlessly talk to yourself negatively?”

Countering technique

The counter technique is among the best ways to reduce negative self-talk. Your mind is continually countered with extreme positive thoughts whenever a negative thought enters your mind. For example, you may think to yourself, “I must not embarrass myself in front of everyone!” when presenting an important presentation. The audience is going to give me five-minute applause if I am good.”. It is likely that the truth will lie somewhere between the two.

Delete button technique

It is also important to use the delete button to combat negative self-talk. If you think of a negative thought, you imagine it is being destroyed in your mind by pressing the delete button. You can also imagine punching the negative thought in your mind.

Burning desire

Desirous thoughts will also influence your subconscious mind. When your subconscious mind is fueled by desire, it will do anything to obtain the object of its desire. In addition, the conscious mind would be able to access all the information it needs to know about how to do this.

You will be successful when your goal becomes your consuming obsession and you are driven to see it come true. The subconscious mind is able to work on a goal when it is backed up by a strong emotion, which then allows you to see the opportunities in life that would help you achieve your goal.

It is only athletes who strive to become the best who become the best. Their only objective in life is to become the best. That is the one thing they desire most in life. If they want it, they’re willing to work hard to get it:

  • Keep practicing after the training session.
  • Do whatever it takes to improve their skill set.
  • Get their subconscious minds to be on the lookout for opportunities to succeed.

What are the steps to cultivating burning desire?

Begin by defining your goals. Make them as specific as you can. Be realistic as you can. Make a note of it somewhere and feel it.

Bridge-burning technique

Don’t waste your time building bridges. You should destroy any safe boats you may have kept just in case something goes wrong. When our minds evolve to help us survive, then they achieve the best results. Your mind is put into survival mode when you burn bridges, and the only way forward is to go forward.

Small wins (or progress bar) technique

Incorporate small achievements into your life (that lead to the goal) to create another powerful tool. Look at the graph of your progress each day if you want to lose X kg of weight. The overall trend is downward, even if there are small bumps here and there. Consider putting an image of someone with the perfect weight on your desk.

Motivational technique

Finally, you should find what motivates you to achieve your goal and use it. Perhaps it is someone who gives you encouragement. It may even be an inspirational video. It may even be a song that energizes you.

Keep the burning desire to accomplish your goal in your mind every day. A burning desire to attain your goal will trigger your subconscious mind to be bombarded by thoughts about your goal.

Love and faith

There are three positive emotions that are the most powerful: faith, love and sex. Faith and love are more spiritual, but sex is more biological. They empower any thought, and the subconscious mind can easily accept it if all four are present. Afterward, it will translate the idea into actions, opportunities, and ideas.

The concept of faith is a state of consciousness that may be achieved by affirmation, repetition of instructions, or autosuggestion, through repeated interaction with the subconscious mind.

We believe in faith when we are certain of the outcome, unlike when we hope. In uncertain conditions, we are simply letting you know one possible scenario when we hope.

Visualization technique

Next, visualize how you will achieve your goals. You must have faith that it will happen. It is not a matter of hoping the desired outcome will happen, but of believing that it has already happened.

Visualizing your life when your desire is fulfilled is one of the most effective techniques. Spend a few minutes each day closing your eyes and picturing your future after achieving your goal. Try to visualize everything you will need to do to become successful:

  • How do you look?
  • How are you acting?
  • Do you feel good?
  • What do you say?
  • What are you doing?

Physical preparation technique

Preparation physically is another tool. Get those brackets to fix your teeth NOW if you want to be famous. When it comes to a romantic relationship, buy another toothbrush and keep it in your bathroom.

Detachment technique

The last and most important thing is to let go of attachment to outcomes. Your desires will never unfold exactly as you plan them. Your dream will unfold if you stay open to the possibilities that are in front of you, rather than narrowing your focus on the options that are in front of you at this moment.

Receiving communication from your subconscious mind

Consciousness and the subconscious mind communicate in two directions, as we’ve established. Your conscious mind tells your subconscious mind what to do and what to achieve. It gives you ideas and options back in return.

Why are there some people who are able to spot new opportunities easily? People with subconscious minds are fed more information on a specific subject than others, because their subconscious mind feeds them more information than what the other people usually get.

When you decide to do something, opportunities arise that allow you to do it. Have you ever noticed this? You must imbue your decision with faith and desire when you make a decision. When you make a decision, you soon begin receiving information that will help you reach your goals.

Conscious perception threshold

All senses provide information to your subconscious mind, as we’ve already established. Afterward, it filters the data and determines what information to pass along to the conscious mind. That difference is known as threshold for conscious perception.

This is what separates those who spot an opportunity from those who miss it. There is only a difference in the mode your subconscious mind is set in and the number of tasks it has to go through.

A dream will become a reality when you have a desire, an intention, and the faith that it will happen. Every other thought is discarded and stored in the subconscious. Eventually, when you reach other goals, you will have access to it; however, for now, it is inaccessible to the conscious mind.

Auto-suggestion

The five senses are the only way for humans to control the information entering the subconscious mind. Many people, however, do not seem to control this information. Moreover, the typical person does not exercise control in the majority of cases. Many people are living in poverty because they do not possess control.

The process of influencing the subconscious mind is known as autosuggestion. A stimulus is any self-administered information received by the senses that reach the mind. It is the dominant thoughts that remain in the conscious mind (either negative or positive) that impact the subconscious mind. If a powerful emotion (faith, fear, love, etc.) encourages a thought, the thought dominates.

Mantra technique

The mantra technique is a powerful technique. A mantra is a positive statement you repeat to yourself (or aloud) to help you overcome a problem. You will get better results with more repetition, the stronger your belief and the more faith you place in your words.

Hypochondria is one of the leading causes of illness, according to many scientific studies. Hypochondria is when you believe that you are sick. An autosuggestion mantra driven by fear is a powerful one.

Then convincing your mind that you are well, happy, physically attractive, or mentally strong should also be possible.

Reading out load technique

A goal for your life was previously instructed to you. Write down your goal now and reinforce the motivation to achieve it. Each time you wake up and before you go to sleep, read your goals aloud. Imagine yourself already possessing your goal. Imagine the desire in your hands. Say your goal aloud, mixing emotion with your words. Remain faithful to your goal.

Be aware that influencing your subconscious mind comes at a cost. That cost is persistence. The step of auto-suggestion has to be repeated over and over again, and the goal has to be repeated aloud. You also have to keep trusting the outcome.

Sometimes the difference between success and failure can be as little as a few days. It might be the availability of a backup plan as well. If they always say, “In case I do not succeed, I will do that and that, I will do this and that, etc.” they’ll always do those things. The mind will always be looking for ways out.

The article is based on Napoleon Hill’s classic book: Think and Grow Rich, one of the oldest self-help books in existence. This book presents a set of rules that anyone can follow to become rich, but that is difficult to master. It discusses auto-suggestion as one of the rules. My adaptation of the book is based on its contents and my application to the present. In the book, I explain the methods I learned and how I used them.

Bottom line

A powerful weapon you possess in your arsenal is your subconscious mind.  A subconscious mind could determine whether you spot a great opportunity or not. It could be the difference between a happy and prosperous life and a miserable one. Influence over people can either give you power or enslave you to be someone else’s slave.

The auto-suggestion process involves introducing ideas and thoughts to your subconscious mind from your conscious mind. It’s possible to influence your subconscious mind to work toward your goals by utilizing this technique. Mastering this technique can lead to a fulfilling life and achieving all your dreams.
